Each member should have at least the following items. Please note that we always try to travel light. So please take only the necessary stuff:
- Sun protection
- Sun glasses
- Cap or Hat
- Towel
- Light cloths, bright colors, long pants, one light sweatshirt
- Sleeping bag
- Comfortable outfit for overnight
- Comfortable shoes, but strong material
- Swiss knife
When in desert take nothing… leave nothing.
- Respect the inhabitants and their traditions·
- Don’t ever put your hand in a hole·
- Don’t touch anything strange·
- Don’t walk bare foot·
- Learn how to read the tracks, maps, GPS, stars, geology·
- Reading the soil is not a talent, it is an experience·
- Plan the timings, stick to them even if you are going for fun·
- When passing obstacles, go on foot, then do it slowly·
- Take risks wisely·
- Improve your limits, don't overdo it.
When you drive in a convoy, convoy rules apply·
- One leader·
- Keep the vehicle’s headlights on at all times while off-road·
- Maintain visual contact with the vehicle behind you, never leave anybody behind·
- Make sure personal belongings inside the car are securely fastened·
- Maintain a distance of at least 100m from the vehicle in front of you·
- Communication is key.
Check each and every functionality of the vehicle mainly the following:
- Engine
- Cooling System
- Powertrain
- Suspension
- Fuel
- Brakes
- Oil and all other fluids
- Battery in a good condition
- All hoses and belts in good condition
- Tires must be all terrain and in a good condition in addition to a full size spare
